Broadway Mile

INTRODUCING..... Broadway Mile
These guys are super busy, well with the talent that they have you can see why.
Even with their busy schedule Brendan still had the time to answer a few questions.
Their radio-friendly sound is inspired from childhood days spent listening to their parents eclectic record collection in the outer suburbs of Newcastle, NSW.
With the new EP, Broadway Mile brings pop-vibrancy 2.0 to the Australian music scene whilst retaining their edgy 90’s inspired progressive vibe previously established on their first EP.

Hello,Where are you from?
Newcastle, NSW

Who are the band members and How old are each of you?
Tim - 25
Brendan - 24

We've actually been changing our line up lately and we have a new bass player and keyboardist. Taking things slow, so we won't officially announce them for now

For people who haven't heard of "Broadway Mile", What is some words to describe your band?
Rob Thomas and The Gaslight Anthem just had a really attractive baby…

What are you working on at the moment?
1 month ago we didn't even have a band after our lead guitarist left and we still didn't have a bass player. After running some auditions for the past 1-2 months we've found some amazing musicians. Right now we're busy getting to know everyone, jamming, writing, rehearsing & planning shows. Hopefully we'll hit the studio again soon.

What's your favourite music right now?
I'm really enjoying Jimi Hendrix…that guy had so much talent!

You have played support to so many talented artists,How was this experience for you?
Great! It really helps to build your confidence as a band

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
It's usually an emotional thing. If we're feeling a certain way then we pick up a guitar and play around. Sometimes we get magic and sometimes we get trash ;)wink

  How did you all meet?
Tim and I met through a friend who was studying audio production with Tim. We met our new piano player through a local music teacher and we met our new bass player from Gumtree! If you're trying to start a band then you should give Gumtree a go, nothing to be ashamed of!

How much would winning Everclear opening act mean to you?
I think we'd all be pretty stoked! It's one of Tim's favourite bands!

What was your insperation to lonely girl?
The riff that we play in the intro and verses had been floating around for ages but we couldn't write a good chorus. I had Tim around one night and we just hammered it out until we wrote something catchy and fun. I might have been channeling some frustration from a past experience as well.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
I think we've always written pop music. This is what we love. Well, we do listen to some alternative and crazy stuff but our core lies with artists we heard growing up e.g. Matchbox Twenty, Green Day, Bon Jovi, The Living End, Silverchair, Led Zeppelin, Cat Stevens etc…

If you could collaberate with anyone who would it be?
Gaslight Anthem. Rob Thomas. Everclear, Billy from Green Day… Emeli Sande (I'd convince Tim to do it)

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, How do you pass the time?
Answering questions is always a good option ;)wink

What is one word to describe this experience so far?
The interview or the band? haha The band has been great! Do what you love and give it everything you've got. It's better than being a rich son of a bitch working in bank with no friends

At what age did you develop your love for music?
At what point does a baby learn how to use their ears?

The Sweet Apes

The Sweet Apes formed around late 2010.
With many of us favouring the heavy scene,They decided that they could create a unique sound with a few tweaks. The challenge to maintain the heavy feel with a female singer was promising and with the help of Each member adding their own person style to the band.
The Sweet Apes was created. You can hear our first single on our Facebook, which is also up on iTunes.now working on Their EP! Check out our facebook page to stay updated with the process! we caught up With Miki Rich as he answers those questions we are all dying to hear answered.

As our producer likes to say "EPIC" haha.

At the moment i am loving a lot of the recent pop releases but i know the other boys are really liking the new Title Fight and In Hearts Wake albums!.

6. Who or what inspired you to become an artist?, How or in what way?'
I think we have all grown up loving music, learning music and that has probably inspired us a lot, music is a big part in all our lives! Personally i cant see doing anything else besides it!.

7.What did you think you all were originally going to have as a career?
To be honest, i had never really known what i wanted to do until music became an option! I know our drummer wouldn't mind being a personal trainer!.

8.What do you enjoy doing the most when you are not performing or working on your music?
Just getting away and relaxing is always good! getting some friends together and traveling to a beach house or something to clear your mind before coming back and writing or going out to play shows really feels good!.

9.If you had to choose a quote (or a line) to describe what motivates you day to day, what would it be?
hard work pays off. If you want to be good, you have to practice, A dream doesn't become reality from nothing.

10.For anyone that hasn't heard of the sweet apes,How would you describe your band?
A mix of heavy music mixed with melodic vocals to create the perfect post hardcore mix!.

11.any concerts coming up we should know about?
Hopefully we will be announcing a tour really soon so keep your eyes peeled for that! looking forward to seeing new faces and old around australia!.

Energetic and a great way to get your music out there to new fans and also a great way to see your hard work paying off with kids coming out and singing your songs!.

13.Were you generally impressed with the postive feedback and constantly growing musical fan base?
We LOVE getting positive feed back from fans! it makes us feel good when we get a good response on things that we have been working on! We just hope that we can keep getting stuff out there for fans to enjoy and hope they keep enjoying what we do!.

14.What's your ultimate direction for your band?
Ultimately we hope to be able to travel the world with our music, make a living out of playing music for fans and have kids enjoy what we do!.

15.What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
Post-Hardcore.

Sound Of Seasons

Sound of Seasons announced themselves to the world after exploding into the music scene with the release of their first single "All Over Me".
The band's incredible dedication to their music career saw them take off making music fans and the industries pay attention.Shortly after,The boys made it to Blunt Magazine, won a support from Rage and found themselves with an growing Fan base. 2012 is definately a Sound Of Seasons Year,This year will see the release of their debut EP! Make Believe, the boys are poised to hit the road again brining their energy to a stage near you,And if they weren't busy enough Dom Took the time to express their new EP.

Order Of Band From Left To Right: Dom- Guitar, Jayson - Bass, Marcus - Vocals, James - Drums

Where are you from?
Sydney

What's the origin of the band name?
The name Sound Of Seasons came up during our first rehearsal. It was kind of a random name that was thrown out there; with really no background story what so ever. After careful deliberation we decided that name suits our style of music, as it’s a sound that will last throughout the seasons, a sound and style of music that can never be outdated.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
Our music is influenced by a lot of different styles, but overall our music would fit into the Alternative/Rock genre.

For someone who has never heard of you, How would you describe Sound Of Seasons?
Sound Of Seasons is made up of catchy melodies, intense rhythms, stops and weird chords
.

How does make the make believe compare to All Over Me  EP?

The Make Believe EP revolves around the same catchiness and style as All Over Me, but is a lot more qualitative. Before recording the EP we though a lot about our individual parts as well as how they sounded as whole. We made sure that we were 100% with every part of the song before recording it. Musically its also a lot more challenging, but still maintains the catchy sound of seasons sound.

Can you tell us a bit about it? And some of the songs meanings? What were your inspirations for the EP?
To go with the intensity of the music, we have tried to write lyrics that not only suit the mood of the song, but also reflect on events we have experienced. The songs vary from love to depression to everything in-between.

What are your plans for the rest of the year?
The rest of the year looks heaps busy for us. Our tour is coming up. And we’re all really pumped and excited for that. The release of the EP is due out on the 21st. and I think that’s about it.

  Who are your major influences?
Pierce The Veil, Closure In Moscow, There For Tomorrow.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
Our music has evolved a lot. Since our formation we have explored how tight we can be as a band. By this, I mean how interesting we can make our music. This has not only made us a tighter band but better musicians. Earlier on we were keeping things simple and straight forward, but now I think we evolved to create music that isn’t so straightforward. Telling a story with the music, rather than just by listening to the lyrics.

What are some most played music that you love right now?
You can’t go wrong with a Yellowcard discography!

Were you generally impressed with the postive feedback and constantly growing musical fan base?
Of course we were. It amazing to know that the music you write not only reflects on your life, but the lives of people around you. To know that they understand where every lyric comes from, and know that it can relate to them is unbelievable. We have been working really hard to get where we are today, and its nice to see all our hard work paying off.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, How do you pass the time?
Sit in my bedroom with all the lights off and watch episodes of the office.

One word to describe this experience so far?
HECTIC!

At what age did you develop your love for music?
I’ve always had a love for music, but I was 11 when I picked up a guitar. I think this is the stage in my life where I realized how broad music could be, and my love developed from there.

Do you have a message for your fans?
Thank you all so much for the support, it means so much to us! Make your way down to a show so I can give you all massive sweaty hugs heart. Make Believe out 21st of September. GET ON IT!

Leek & The War Wick Tragedy

Leek & The War Wick Tragedy hail from Melbourne. We have One half which is the musical Genius  Luke Humphries (known to some as 'Leek') - one of the relatively few 'darker' composers emerging from the youth of today. The other half of the project is producer Scott Blackman. Both met when studying their Diploma of Sound Engineering, Both have been heavily involved in various musical projects from a very young age, and have an array of musical knowledge to draw from. Since paving their own ways in the industry immediately after University, Luke and Scott have since found their way back together, with 'Leek & The War Wick Tragedy' taking centre stage in both of their lives.

Currently, when the boys take to the stage, the line up consists of:
Luke Humphries: Vocals + Guitar
Scott Blackman: Keyboard + Backing Vocals
James Donald: Guitar
Leek has completed writing material for his debut release, due out in 2012.

How does the new album compare to to your old music?
With 'One' we have really tried to explore a fuller band sound than previous EPs, which were a little more stripped back and raw. On top of the continual natural development that comes with age, I guess this time around there were a lot more resources available to us that enabled us to achieve a larger effect.

When will your album be released?
We havent yet locked in a date, but it wil be late October/Early november.

Use one word to describe the album for the fans?
 Life.

What is some main ideas for your next single 'The One'?
Our next single 'The One' is a modern day love ballad... It's a pretty deep love story.

How did the band name come about?
Luke has been performing as 'Leek' for years, so when the opportunity came about to form a backing band around him, he took his favourite term from a Shakespeare book which was 'Warwick Tragedy'.

If you could collaberate with any musican,Who would it be?
The producers on 'One;, Luke and Scott, would very much love to work with a range of people. The greatest one they share would be Noel Gallagher.

Who are some Musical insperations for you?
We drew from a range of influences on this album; namely The Verve, Oasis, The Beatles and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

What did you think you were originally going to have as a career?
All of us were heavily into music at a young age... I think we always knew we would try our hardest to be successful at it.

What are your immediate music career goals?
In the immediate future we would like to raise our profile within Australia, and hopefully have our album in as many peoples hands as possible.

Any concerts coming up that we should know about?
Shortly after the release of the album we will be announcing shows, but nothing we can talk about just yet ;)

If you could go to any one place on earth and stay there for the rest of your life,Where would you go and why?
We like our peace and quiet, and being amongst nature. Theres plenty of places that could offer that... I guess it would depend what was going on in our lives haha.

Who or what inspired you to become an artist? How or in what way?'
A lot of the time you follow dreams by inspiring yourself. Sure, we have our idols, but you never truly want to give something a crack unless you really believe within yourself that you can do it.

What do you enjoy doing the most when you are not performing or working on your music?
Just being around good people and enjoying what life has to offer. Scott and Luke are both heavily into films and reading aswell as music.

If you had to choose a quote (or a line) to describe what motivates you day to day, what would it be?
"I read somewhere how important it is in life not necessarily to BE strong, but to FEEL strong..."

Where's your favorite place to go for inspiration? and what inspires you the most?
We like our peace and quiet and nature. Luke's studio (Flower Press) is in a beautiful bush setting in country Victoria, and that offers us the inspiration we need to get things done the way we like.

Highways

Highways are an Australian pop punk band from Sydney, New South Wales. The band consists of siblings Josh (drums) and Sarah (vocals) Buckley, guitarists Kerrod Willams and Nick Laurie and bassist Ed Wardle. The group formed in 2011 and have quickly gained momentum with high-profile support slots To date, they have released one EP, Enjoy the Little Things, which was released for free via their Facebook page.  they are in progess of the next big thing in the music industry. they are majorly busy but we still got the time to talk to Kerrod.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
We've changed a lot of the few years since we've started the band, but right now it's Pop Rock with a lot of influence from Pop Punk.

Who are your major influences?
We all have our own influences ranging from No Doubt to John Mayer, and there's too many to name major ones so let's go with those two!

When did you form your band?
The band started around 2010, but we didn't start doing real band things until 2011.

What inspired you to make music together?
We were always making music before Highways and were all in different bands at the time (except Sarah), and not really doing much. We all wanted to be in a band where everyone cared just as much as we did, so when we met each other we decided to make Highways!

Do you have any upcoming shows?
At the moment, nothing is booked. But we have some things in the works for the east coast for the release of our new EP "Us Against The World"

When your EP will be released?
1st November 2012

what can we expect?
Hopefully you can expect to hear our growth as a band through the new EP, when we wrote ETLT EP we were all still getting used to writing our own sound and were feeding off each others enthusiasm more than actually knowing what to do writing-wise.

How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
I think it's evolved a lot, but how exactly is hard to say. I think Nick, who writes most of our music, has gotten a lot better as a writer while Sarah has grown more as a singer and you can tell through her melodies and lyrics.

does this music differ to your old EP?
It does differ but not too much. Like, you're not going to listen to the EP thinking it's Highways and getting a dance or metal EP, it's still Pop Rock and it's something we love and hopefully you all love too!

If you could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?
Personally, probably Kermit the Frog.

what are some most played music that you love right now?
Born and Raised - John Mayer,
Take Care - Drake,
Root of Evil - Brutality will Prevail.

How do you get inspiration to write songs?
We all get different inspiration, i think for Sarah and her lyrics a lot is about growing up and having to deal with the problems that all 16 year olds have to grow up with!

one word to sum up the EP?
Exciting!

were you generally impressed with the postive feedback and constantly growing musical fan base?
Yes! It's great to see people liking the music we make and it makes putting in all the work so much more worth it!

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
Just remember that you can't make a band, practice once and think you'll be supporting You Me @ Six that next month. You need to make sure you're ready to pour you're heart and soul into something you really want and understand it may take years for your efforts to come to fruition, just be positive and don't give up!

if you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
Kanye West, personally!

Any last words?
If any of you ever want to say hi, just hit us up on facebook @ www.facebook.com/highwaysmusic and thanks for reading!

Summerset Avenue

Since forming in early 2010, Summerset Avenue have been taking hometown of Melbourne, Australia by storm. During their first four months as a band, Summerset Avenue had already played their first show and set off to the USA to record their debut EP with the likes of Mike Watts (Story Of The Year) and Mike Picotte at VuVu Studios, New York.Fast forward to 2012, Summerset Avenue have a brand new single out via iTunes entitled ‘Down South’, have been endorsed officially by Crossbone Clothing, Faith & Fools Clothing, Cole Clark Guitars, and Indie Guitars

What do Summerset Avenue have in store for the rest of 2012? Rest assured, it will include solid national touring, a new release, and much more. I got to talk to Steve hope you enjoy
The band:
 Leeanne Rodgers - Vocals
Carlos Peregin - Guitar
Steven Cannatelli - Bass
Ben Pali - Drums

Were you generally impressed with the postive feedback and constantly growing musical fan base?
Definitely!!! We're really happy that people are catching onto and enjoying what we do.

Describe the experience for you being the support for so many major acts? Its always an amazing feeling to share the stage with some of our favourite bands! We have learn't a lot through these experiences and it has really helped us grow as a band.

where are you from? Melbourne, Australia.

What's the origin of the band name? Summerset Avenue is a place we came up with to get away from everyday life, thats what the band is all about, an outlet, another world for us to escape to.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Pop Rock.

Have any hidden talents? Leeanne loves Photography, Carlos is great at Sports, Steve likes to draw and Ben can beat most people at any video game.

Who or what inspired you to become an artist? How or in what way? I think individually there would be a lot of different influences but as a band we're really inspired by bands such as The Getaway Plan, Paramore, Kisschasy, VersaEmerge just to name a few.

What do you enjoy doing the most when you are not performing or working on your music? I think for of us just hanging out, going to see other bands play, partying, chillin' out watching movies, you know all the normal everyday stuff.

For someone who has never heard of you, how would you describe ''summerset avenue"? In one word 'Fun'

What are some most played music that you love right now. Well I don't think any of us have stopped listening to Brand New Eyes by Paramore since it was released years ago haha Requiem by The Getaway Plan, thats a really amazing album! Parkway Drive and Woe Is Me on the heavy side of things. The Strokes, some old school Oasis, we listen to a lot of different styles of bands.

How did you decide what genre of music you wanted to play?
We didn't, we just got together and started writing, what came out is what we played and how we sound now is just an evolution of what we do.

Any up coming shows we should look forward to? We're playing with Cartel from the U.S this weekend at The Ferntree Gully Hotel, we'll be hitting Adelaide with D At Sea in October as well as heading The Espy in October too, so some exciting stuff coming up.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? Do you think these topics will change over time?

Topics are constantly changing depending on what is going on in Leeanne's life, she writes about personal experience or feelings but musically we write as a band, there's no one songwriter in Summerset Avenue, everyone contributes to the writing process.

When do we get to hear some new music? First week of October we'll be releasing a brand new song off our up-coming EP.

What's your ultimate direction for your band? To do this for as long as we possibly can.

Tara Favell

Genre: Pop/Country
Region: Canberra, ACT
Members: Tara Favell - Vocals/Guitar
Sounds Like: Taylor Swift, Lady Antebelum
Influences: McFly, Taylor Swift, New Empire

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?

I'd say my music is pop-country, I love country music because it tells the best stories through their lyrics & that's what I aim to do with my music

Congratulations on The Chase What was the Main Idea For it?
Thank you so much! The Chase was inspired by a situtation I've found myself in a few too many times where you end up falling for a guy who you think is great but turns out to be the opposite of who you think he was. Despite all that when he breaks your heart he still thinks he can get you back, this song is a message to those guys!

What are the insperation and themes or topics for most of your songs?
My main inspiration for my music is life in general, the only way I know how to deal with situations that go on in my life is to write about them

one word to describe this experience so far?
Amazing!
 who are some musical influences?
My main musical influence is a British band called McFly, they inspired me to play guitar & since then I've been writing songs!

if you could do a Collab with any artist who would it be?
I'd love to do a collab with McFly definitely! & Ed Sheeran!

What’s the #1 most played song on your iPod?
Right now it would probably be Vegas Girl by Conor Maynard. Loving his songs!

the music video for anything for you how was that experience for you?
Filming the music video was such a fun expirience! I'd never done anything like that before so I was a bit nervous to start with but once we started filming it was amazing!

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
If I'm not playing guitar & writing songs in that free time i'd probably be on YouTube I love watching makeup & fashion videos as well as some of my favourite YouTubers

at what age did you develop your love for music?
I've always loved music for as long as I can remember but I really started getting into it when I was 13 & taught myself guitar

  do you play any instruments?
I play guitar & a bit of piano

what advice do you have for anyone getting into the music field?
I'd definitely say posting videos on YouTube is a great way to get exposure & play songs you love & interpret them in your own way so you're known for your originality too

how does it feel to be a role model for teenage girls?
That is such a huge compliment for me because I know how much my favourite musical artists have helped me so if I can be even half as inspirational as them to teenage girls I'll be so happy!

and finally do you have a message for your fans?
I wouldn't be where I am today without you, I love you I love you I love you! & I'll always believe in you :)smile

The true meaning behind fun stating from lead singer Christian Lo Russo.Fun is a reminder about enjoying the moments and touring the world and the business side of the world its about not getting caught up with yourself.

Wade Osborn adds We couldn't do it if it didn't work we are still doing what we love, doing this for the love nothing else we love hanging out, Australia , around the world and getting drunk.

Go Mason Go!

Go Mason Go! are an Indie-Rock group from Hurlstone Agricultural High School in Glenfield, NSW.
formed
in 2011 straight away began writing and performing their rhythmic high-energy original songs. The Anticipation of their Debut EP coming closer.

Order Of Appearance From Left To Right:Jordan Blencowe Lead Guitar, Jesse TauntonVocals/Guitar ,Rohan Raman Bass , Max Groblicki Drums and Sid Crémer Keys.

where are you from?We go to a boarding school called hurlstone agricultural high. So we are from all around the state, such as: batemans bay, gilgandra, braidwood and around sydney.

What's the origin of the band name? the band name originates from an inside joke within band members. but it is from a youtube video.

Have you changed the band's name before? Yes, we were previously called "bleech" and for a while "wednesday thursday friday"

why did you decide to change the name? because it was kinda stupid and another band had that name.

Tell me about how you guys got together? we were all in the same dorm at school. it started with max and jordan. then jesse joined when he came back from overseas. they taught the other member of the dorm bass.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be? alternative rock/indie/funk, cover alot of genres but leaning towards those genres

congratulations on winning the Red Bull Bedroom Jam how was that experience for you?
winning RBBJ was such a privilege. we gained alot of publicity and recognition. Making the webcast, playing at the backyard jam and recording the ep have been such amazing experiences and we have had lots of fun and learnt so much.

working on your first EP how is this experience? and what can we expect?
none of us have ever be to a studio, we had no idea what it was going to be like or what the process was. we predicted we would do 5 songs and a acoustic hahahahaha. we did three songs in the five days. but it was totally worthy it as the songs sound top quality.

Who writes your songs? we all write the songs. it may start for as a jam or an idea then everyone has a say in what structure and direction it goes. It's a group process.

What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? our inspirations, in terms of lyrics, is making sense of what's around us. we will literally sit in our band room look at stuff until we find something that fits. the lines may seem random but they have a greater meaning to us. to answer your question, our themes and topics change but we frown upon pop-punk love songs.

who are some of your musical influences?
Our biggest mutual influence would have to be Red Hot Chili Peppers for sure. we all have our individual tastes and dislikes. for example Rohan likes Chris Brown, Jason Derulo and other r'n'b artists whereas max likes Incubus, The Strokes, Blink 182.

what are future plans for the band? Once the EP is finalised and the artwork and everything like that is finished, we hope to send that to radio stations and labels. we hope to be playing more shows (ie not band comps) and support cool bands

one word to describe this experience so far? awesome

what do you like doing in your freetime?because we live together, we hang out with each other in our freetime. we have girls, sport, tv shows and games to keep us occupied. hahaha

What advice would you give to fellow bands? play. play what you enjoy. play because you love it. play like its your last chance to play. have fun, i guess.
