2012 in review

My Original Plan was meant to have a lot of people come together with this,( Maybe next year) but the Year is young and we will be looking at the Year of Music trends that had an impact on this year, 2012 saw a lot of different music, as we get to the end of 2012 we will review what were the best and worst trends, best and worst music, memories, and biggest regrets in the music industry.


So far, 2012 has seen Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and Carrie Underwood come back in big ways; boy bands brought us back to the late 90s; Carly Rae Jepsen and Maroon 5 dialed up telephone-themed hits; Madonna and a middle finger rocked halftime at the Super Bowl; and Whitney Houston, among other late music stars, was taken from us far too soon.

This Year we have seen a rise in British Pop Music at the most, we witnessed a billion views on Korean Superstar Psy with Gangam Style, We saw Little Mix rise in the charts with their debut album.One Direction have proved Music worthy with their international chart topping, Call Me Maybe Exploded the internet. Justin Bieber made his first big boy album Believe.Boyfriend made the second highest first week sales this year!.Snoop Dogg changed his name to Snoop Lion adding himself to the list of stupid name changers. 

Taylor Swift has proved herself a pop sensation dropping all country ties now. LMFAO called the splits.
But if you had to tell one Artist to stop making music based on their 2012 hits I would have to say Pitbull should stop ( SORRY MR WORLD WIDE) and Ke$ha should take a break as well for the worlds sake. Electro and Dance have proved to be the biggest genre this year BUT in saying that there are a lot of 2013 predictions saying Electro has died. 

Biggest Music controversy this year, Former I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist Michael Crafter fired all four members of his hardcore band Confession: “I will be looking for legit friends to play within the band. SO HEY GET F#CKED!”


Australian Hip Hop found it's spot with Seth Sentry taking the cake for the 2012 Oz Artist of the year! making it the second year that a melbourne artist has taken the Channel V award. Unsigned Music we lost some good bands with Some Time soon, The Sunny Side up, Summerset Avenue, We saved the party, We lost members from New Empire with Pete Leaving and Drummer Nax leaving For Our Hero. 

Ed Sheeran proved himself a few awards with being dubbed the best Song- Writer of the year with all his successes this year.As well as taking the award for the best concert experience that anyone has experienced well when you have a microphone, Loop pedal and Guitar.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.       <!--[endif]-->If you could ban one song from ever being played again from 2012?, It would have to be Rihanna Diamonds submitted by Ebony, it was unsuccessful compared to her other hits, over play played a contribution of why it became a fail, as well as Rihanna and her attitude when bringing people along to her tour to see the life of her but walked off to a private part of the plane leaving them along. An Australian Journalist took it in his into his right to entertain the crowd the only way how. 

NUDITY!!! 
 Clearly it was a no show too far for the Australian journalist when he made the decision to flash his junk to a news-hungry press cabin, aching to report something of note and as his antics were captured on film, the whole world could see just how crazy journalists can get when they are cooped up for hours and given random food to eat.

Toni suggests also want to say live like we're young by One Direction was unsuccessful but also successful as a push for One Direction to break out of all the songs about love and heart break, and that music video is hilarious so ........ hmm my final decision that song by will.i.am & Brittany spears because that just screams FAIL!! ( and we couldn't agree more).

Favorite Collaboration this year I think I am a big fan of Owl City so for him to mix it up singing with Canadian Carly Rae Jepsen, setting music beats to stun in a summer type/awesome song that has everyone dancing around and singing ( even if we don't like to admit it).

This one would have to be a tough choice on the best unsigned band would have to be Masketta Fall with their connection with their fans and their amazing concert experience. The way they treat Fans not as Fans but as Friends it is amazing that they have such a big fan following already but listen to their music and you see why. 

But In tired first no doubt had to be The Monster Goes Rawrr, Their New EP " The Walk of Game", The Monster Goes Rawrr could never disappoint with their new style but the best thing about The Walk Of Game is that their is a style for everyone.
 Even trying a slow new song. If you haven't listened to it don't freak out I have you covered.
 I have a feeling we will be hearing more from the boys in the new year and to tell the truth I can't wait for that!!. 

For Our Hero has set their new style with their major anticipation of their new single of Take The Night, Their New Music Video currently in the works right now, and the fact they are playing one of the best festivals for 2013 at Big Day Out In Melbourne This is something you can't miss an incredible moment for them. 2013 will be nothing but big for For Our Hero. 

So with all that, We have reach the end of the 2012, Happy New Years bring on 2013! 


But to sum this whole post up I have to do it in style, With a song of course, Channel V, The Riff: The Year that was 2012. Just to sum everything up all in one song how enjoyable can you get seriously!. 

The Perfect Pitch

Ever since I have watched Pitch Perfect I can't seem to get it out of my head but who can blame me!, I have watched it Twice and the endless listening to the movie soundtrack and I think it is perfect for a review so here i go.

To Play a Musical instrument showcases your talent nonetheless your vocal chords are struck as an instrument. To sing performances would sometimes include instruments that double a human voice part.But Acapella singing uses the vocal chords to showcase without the help of instruments that is acapella brilliance. To vocalise and harmonise with other people in a group.

This is the basis of the movie, it is about a battle of Acapella groups, cleaverly constructed to suit the modern day genre of music while bringing back the classic favourites as well. From Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, B.O.B, Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars just to name a few. This acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups.

  If you aren't convinced by this then you are on the wrong planet.

The Movie specialises in a star cast line up for your pleasure to watch most of the people in the movie are up and coming stars that are making their big break (successfully).
 Through this movie to launch their career with such a big role. While adding some professionals as well just another reason why this movie is so enjoyable.


 Beca played by the wonderful (Anna Kendrick) who plays an aspiring future DJ.

 

Heart throb Skylar Astin ( My current Celebrity Crush)

 plays Main guy Jessie who has the dream of mixing movies and music together.

 

Britney Snow as Chloe the sidekick that basically has to put up with everyone elses crap without having her own say.

 

Rebel Wilson who shows off her comedic side as she plays Fat Amy

 

 

So if the Music and the Cast hasn't impressed you yet, The comedy side of it will indeed I could Quote the whole movie for you (not yet) But instead I will let you watch the trailer so you can see what all the fuss is about.

 

 

And finally the best part of the whole movie ( Skylar Astin and Anna Kendrick) And the Relationship that forms between them. It is the perfect relationship no strings attached. the gorgeous guy impresses the unique girl two rival groups and a whole heap of drama to unfold how ever will their friendship bloom. Now for my review opinion, I am not a fan of Glee or do I have to be because after watching this movie it has this own original spin on it that just makes it unique and my current most played music this week. Yes it is getting classed to Glee but Glee has autotune and silly tunes but this movie offers so much more, comedy, star line up, romance, music. It even rips on Glee in the (Riff Off Scene) with a reference to Glee on the wheel * Songs ruined by Glee*, Epic right!.

 

This movie is also classed as a Mean Girls type movie, I couldn't agree more!. It has everything that makes this movie amazing.To be remembered and quoted a million and twenty times in the future. If you haven't watched the movie yet there is still time of course. And with the new launched careers of some of these actors and actresses you will be seeing more movies with them in it. So you can check it out very soon.

 

But Pitch Perfect you have made a Perfect Fan out of me.

We are trying to be okay we are trying to be alright but seeing him with her just don’t feel right

You know when you are confused about something, well when I am confused about something I weigh up the Pro’s and Con’s about the situation to see the better side of things. Okay as I referenced before that I was going to do a post about Harry and Taylor and just how much it has confused the fans putting them in a frenzy. Let us weigh up the pros and cons of Taylor Swift and Harry Styles shall we to help with our decision on them and their relationship. Remember this is made with nothing but Love.

CONS

1.       The Fact he denied the relationship on three separate occasions

 

Yes Harry did deny their relationship but he also denied his relationship with Caroline Flack Last Year when in fact he was dating her. The factor is that he lied to his fans to protect himself and the relationship with Taylor.

 It is wrong to lie (confession: I stole the cookie from the cookie jar) especially to the people that look up to you as an idol, and inspiration. While Harry is a very private person he doesn’t flaunt his relationships, Taylor enjoys coming out in her relationship she did confirm being with Harry yet no one believed her.

  2.   Love Songs Vs Break up songs

It is believed that they have been dating for a while, and while in the love struck stage they will be expressing their love the only way they know how by writing a song. BUT when they break up we will hear not one but two! Break up songs about how their hearts have been trampled on and torn out.  Being two great artists how will fans react to break ups songs.

(We don’t want break up songs but we don’t want dumb love songs either)

 

3.    Media coverage

I have had my eye on the publicity as all this unfolds to see what sort of bull we get to read just so they can get paid but it is getting a bit bizarre, Just this week I walked past an article that read (Taylor swift Pregnant it’s Harry’s) calm down stop sharpening your pitch forks for just a second. It is not true, (we hope)

Today I read (Harry Styles put a ring on it) HAHA Engaged! What

But now Directioners are making rumors that Taylor Called Niall Names, and saying rude things to fans just to make more people hate her that isn't fair.

4. Harry is the one with the famous girlfriend. Unlike Elle, Danielle , And Perrie (sort of) ,Taylor in fact has been in the music scene for a long time, this is why there is going to be many pictures and articles about them together. Well more than there is already is. Stuff to look forward to at least.... (Note sarcasm)

5.    The Fans turn on each other

We are here for the music and I generally respect both artists they are great but there are awful comments from both fan groups. “Directioners deserve cancer” “Taylor I will Kill you if you touch Harry”, No this isn’t the script for the new Hunger games although it is very worthy for it.  People shouldn’t start fighting because two of our favourite artists are dating.  We like an artist for a reason we respect them because their lyrics or because they are down to earth so when Two people start dating the fans should respect them even though it does hurt to see it you don’t have to support it or even like them together by not sending hate that is a start. 

6.   She has the label of Innocent (due to her string of relationships) and the endless break up songs (can’t she deal with break ups like everyone else without the songs) Even Miley Cyrus commented at Miley Cyrus gets called a slut everyday and has been with her boyfriend for 3 years and they are engaged.

Taylor Swift gets called inspirational and elegant everyday and has been with over 13 from the past 3 years. But if she is so innocent why has she had so many break ups but she has had her heart broken she deserves a guy to treat her right.

 Everyone knows Harry will be the perfect boyfriend buying her 23 cupcakes, an expensive hand bag, and quality time with the cupcake, his hugs and kisses.

7.  In fact, says Michele Chalfant of Open Hearts Matchmaking, said maybe Swift should stay away from stars altogether.

"I would like to see her with someone a little bit older than her, and someone outside the entertainment world--maybe in the business world," she tells, "She's been dating people in the spotlight and that's just stress for her everywhere you look.”
 OH yes Stress! There is an age difference between them her 23 and him 18.

Pros

 

1.       Looking at the photos of Harry and Taylor and they are holding hands, and skipping through fields of roses ( hasn’t happened yet), they haven't let each other out of their sights.  Both of them enjoying the sights of the world while taking time out to pose with both his and her fans.

2.        It’s entertaining

Not the relationship it isn’t entertaining itself it is the songs that are coming out, our favourite you tuberGlozell, wrote her own hit it is so entertaining I saw this and laughed till I cried.  Watch and laugh together with me:

 

But then there is this video by simply spoons which is constructed beautifully with look a like’s  from both sides of Taylor and Harry and is so entertaining as well.

3. Maybe He wants a relationship

As much as it hurts the fans to see him with someone,

Fan’s did say they wanted to see him Happy, come on Louis, Zayn, Liam, Niall are all happy. Look how Happy Niall is, but being Famous at day time when it comes night it’s good to share with someone.  Harry being the youngest in the band he did have to grow up really fast so you see why he wants to slow down just a bit.

 

 

4. When Harry and Taylor do break up he is going to need a shoulder to cry on and same with her she is going to need a shoulder to cry on do we have any volunteers..

 

5. Harry will always be a little cupcake

 

 

6.   They don’t know about us, written by Harry Styles, So it was written before the whole Harry and Taylor thing but Maybe he was trying to tell everyone in a different way, let us listen to this:

In conclusion, with 7 negative comments and 6 positives,it seems that nothing good is going to come out with of Harry and Taylor with both Demi and Miley hating on the relationship.The fans ( we feel you) Even Eminem’s Daughter Hailey expressed her hate of the relationship. Pass the Ice cream down, with the distance, the world tours that they are close to time will run out with them together and with her history of famous boyfriends only time will tell.

Christmas Really is a busy time of the year, But then again it is the time for you to be with your loved ones, to be Thankful for what you have, To give and recieve, To come together. Right now the countdown begins till Christmas.

Jack The Lad Swing boys have done it again with their cover of Silent Night. I Think I love this so much because you can hear the Harmonising done by the boys and the fact it is acapella as well without any instrumental distrations.  These boys truely have talent and DAMN THOSE HIGH NOTES!!

I wouldn't mind having them Carol at My house.

My All Time Favourite Christmas Song, sung perfectly by the vocals of Taylor Swift what is not love about this seriously!! She was my First choice to sing the song and she does it so well..

From the Princess of Break up Taylor Swift must be something right to shag up One Direction's Harry Styles Right? But we will save that sorry for another day .
 "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" has proven from those words that we just can't tell our ex's right?
Not only is it that song that you want to sing in your Onesies. <<<- Just like this!!

But it also has broken yet another record. The superstar's pop-country crossover smash, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" has been at No. 1 for nine weeks on Billboard's Top Country Songs chart, setting a new record for most weeks at No. 1 for a hit by a female artist.'

The worst part about this song

Could have something about My Next Door Neighbour who is around 50 who gets drunk and decides to sing Taylor Swift at the top of his lungs ( MAN YOU ARE RUINING TAYLOR SWIFT FOR ME!!)

but the actual worst part about this is the cover songs are so damn good it is so hard to choose the best !! so I will let you be the judge, Good Luck ;).

Put a Gorgeous Guy in front of a microphone, A voice of an angel just like lead singer Jay Taplin, as well as the help from the rest of the For Our Hero boys Geoff, Leon,Nax and Dave working together to make this song even more perfect How is this possible!

This Cover makes everything so perfect...  It is just one of those covers that make you go AWW! I want to hug you because you are too cute!

2. The Monster Goes RAWRR!

 

So what happens when we have guys driving around in a car after a break up.

 Let me present you the perfection that is The Monster Goes Rawrr Music Video.

They have a good point "You go bitch to your friends" which is a vital problem when people break up. 

 But comparing a break up to"it's like urinating on Strangers drunk". Very good! Their own twist on it Just makes the song 50% times better than the orignal.

Their Amazing Dance moves set the video off and you will see why this cover is amazing. 

 

 

 3. The Sweet Apes

Female Fronted Band the Sweet Apes have something to prove When they released the cover, The Rock Version as well as the boys talking part just sets off this song, They have added their own spin on the song which is what makes the song stand out. the more intense music of the Sweet Apes  version is a unique twist compared to the other covers and original song.

4. Example

British ( Calvin Harris's Back up, Back up Dancer/ DJ) joins the comp with his cover.

 It is so different than what we normally expect from Example So I think that is what makes it so cool!

Watch those hand movements from Example and all that Energy that he has, can you just tell he just wants to Jump Up and Down with the burst of Energy that he has.. He has covered this song so well and come on it is really good.

 

 

5. Tanner Patrick

Good at singing, At playing the guitar, and hot. It is hard to believe it how amazing they are. Youtube Artist with a Guitar, His amazing Green Eyes, For people who don't know Tanner Patrick his covers on Youtube are amazing that you could just watch them over and over. So i was wrapped to see that he covered the song but then he made it harder to pick a favourite now.

 

6.Anthem Lights

Christian Rock, Haramonizing Skills, Piano, Cute boys, you know that this song has got everything  going for it, I randomly came across this and I just had to add it here because WOW these guys have talent how have i not heard them before. They have put a lot of time and effect into making this video So i give them props for that. But check it out to see what you think.

 

7. Jedward

 

 

If you know me personally, you know my hate for the Jedward twins, but I thought I will add it in here because maybe just maybe they make people happy with their music. The Acoustic version and The raw talent by the boys. their harmonies suit together being twins kinda makes the harmonies sound even more awesome but i will let you be the judge of that.

 

8. Christina Parie

Since X Factor, Christina Parie Has been making a name for herself in the music scene, This is a Very Pop version and the Kick Ass style from Parie makes the song sound unique, She can hit those high notes and makes the song suit her incredible style. but she didn't make it sound exactly the same and when Christina sung it, it doesn't even sound like a Taylor swift song which makes it totally repeat watchable!, Don't you agree?

 

9.  Fitzy and Wippa

 

Come on! who doesn't love an Australian cover about weather, It is true though and they really tell it how it is, Nova FM's Fitzy and Wippa turn Taylor Swift's latest single into a song about their favourite weather presenters and their lack of success 'cos we never ever ever get accurate weather!

this seriously couldn't get any better and is relatable no matter where you live?

 

10. Megan Nicole

Her innocent voice totally suits this song she matches her vocals to Taylor Swift  with all that Innocence but the good thing about Megan is she adds her own Twist on the song. eating icecream the number one remedy for a broken heart what a good hint ;),she definately has talent, another Youtube Star making it to the list here, going out with a bang.
