Daylight Hours

As It is winter in Australia, I have to admit like the rest of Australia, I hate the rain and I miss summer. Those times at the beach. Watching the surfers, the young summer loves that blossom. Which reminds me of the upbeat spirit of Daylight Hours.

Daylight hours are a three piece from Melbourne who started in 2011 and consists of Phil Gruszka, Adam Gruszka, Anthony Ruberto.

Their debut EP "Brand New Tomorrow" was released 2011. And their second EP was released 2013 titled "With You, I'm Home". Which is an ode to the summer time.

Heartbeat, which is an upbeat catchy sound with Clear Polished vocals, a breakdown for a bridge. Hypnotic riffs and exceptional drum skills, that tie the song together perfectly. Which they said its one of their favourite songs to play live.

Save me, a softer sound then heartbeat with a deeper message that tells the story of wanting to be saved. The lyrics of this song are catchy and would be a crowd favourite at the concerts.

And Summer love, saw their debut music video which portrays the song perfectly. The summer feel with upbeat electro dance. It tells the story of a romance.

With their cover of "Love Is Easy" By McFly. And " Sex On The Radio" By Good Charlotte, Which pushes them to extremes on a new level.

They have a lot to offer the music scene and have revealed they have a lot of big plans as they continue to grow as a band with their music scene.

They will  be releasing a new single along with a music video sooner then we thought! Which the audience is anticipating muchly.

Check them out here! :

The evolution of For Our Hero

My love for this band has been so big since the release of Young Wolves. Being a fan of them since those awkward hair days with their hair straighteners. Tonnes of hair spray and watching all the webisodes over and over. I have watched these boys grow as a band and evolve into what can only be described as perfection.

The band consists of Taplin brothers Jay, on vocals and Beau who writes the band's lyrics, Dave Tran and Leon Blair on guitar, while Geoff Taylor and Nax Vee complete the six piece band, playing bass and drums. They are between drums and bass at the moment so I'm unsure on who we have taking Nax's Place.

I've been to three concerts of theirs and I find myself going to more. The way they put on a show is never the same and that is what I love about it . They can entertain the crowd and put on a show is amazing. They can entertain the crowd and put on a great show .

So those short stack days. The big hair , the hair straighteners and the tonnes of hair spray , watching the webisodes. The webisodes had an intro song which was someone throw a beach towel cause my heads a swimming . I think it's my favourite for our hero song to date. Even though it wasn't released properly until the basement sessions.

Threw the looking glass was them finding themselves. With the catchy hits as mister Prozac and white lighter. Most of the songs are catchy, and are sure to be stuck in your head for days.

After glow combines the raw power of the vocals that  is unleashed contrast of melodic phrasing,  which construct a metaphorical world within a songs. After glow saw a dark
Yet highly polished pop-soul sound.

Strange days- was where we saw their first music video for don't  you dare. Which we follow the journey of Jay Taplin through the forest with the band through the council in the woods where he meets a girl. The classic tale of lust and love withdraws between Jay and the girl.

Young wolves saw the new revolution of For Our Hero. It's for our hero 2.0 bigger and better than ever. With songs like weekends that have the upbeat jazz song harmonising with group vocals at the end of the song. That contrasts with rock inspired tune young wolves where the band team vocals up with lead frontman of The Cab Alex Deleon.

You've got to admit to live in Beau Taplin's mind would be one fucking adventure. Jay has the voice of an angel. Leon is the friend that everyone wants and you can just talk to him for hours. Dave Tran combines his  melodic guitar riffs with a smile that would melt a girls heart. Geoffrey Mark Taylor gives the best hugs and his intellectual convosations are amazing. This is what brings For Our Hero to the music scene because they are destined for big things. This band keeps getting amazing and I don't know where I would be without them and their music. Thank you.

If you are like me and Love For Our Hero

Music Uncovered: Ed Sheeran

We all know the song by Ed Sheeran called the A Team

Yes it's good isn't it?
But the story behind this song remains unknown to a lot of people. So now I am going to share the story of Angel and the song that was.

So the first song that was written was called Little Lady which is featured on the number 5 collaborations project EP. The song goes through the details of Angel's Life and the details of the song are quite brutal and descriptive.

  • This song is about a 13 year old girl who is shipped to her Uncle's house in London by her mom so that she can have a higher education. Her life started going down hill fast by Instead, her Uncle gets her addicted to heroin so he can make her become a prostitute in order to make money.

Well one night after having sex with yet another strange man, she realizes her jaw has been hurt. So instead of going to the clinic she decides to go to the Whittington(a hospital in London) to have her injury looked at.
  •  She's hesitant to do this though because she knows her punter(her pimp) will be angry at her for doing so because then the cops will get involved.
  •  She ends up going though because she can't hide what happened to her with make-up. She makes up a lie to tell just in case the doctor's decide not to pretend they don't know what happened.
  •  But of course, the nurse gets suspicious and doesn't believe the girl's story, so she called in the police.
  • The lyrics lead the story that " She started freaking out in the room even though the cops assured her he wouldn't let anyone hurt her again. She stays silent, but likes that he's talking to her like she's more than a dirty whore. He gives her a card with his phone # on it before he leaves, begs her to use because if she doesn't there's no way he can help her."
  • She leaves to give her pimp all the money she owes him. But her pimp follows her home and because she's been gone so long, wants to know where she's been. Scared and nervous, drops her bags on the floor. Even though there's a mess, all her pimp sees is the card the cop gave her. He gets angry at her for going to the cops so he murders her and dumps her body in the streets.

  • And the end of the song it tells the story that "Little lady left this earth in the worst way
all because she got a card on her 13th birthday".

So the chorus is exactly the same to The A Team. " it's too cold for Angel's to Fly, it's too cold for Angel's to die".

Now it's all starting to make sense right?
Of course due to the brutality of the song it didn't surface and we didn't hear about it till later on.
But it is rumoured to of had some Radio Play in Britain.

This leads to song number two:

Where Ed Sheeran Describes the song The A Team "turning a dark situation into a happy song".

So it's the same tune as Little Lady. Same chorus as The A Team. But with different words just toned down.

Now now how did Ed Sheeran meet Angel?

He had  met  a girl called Angel, whilst volunteering at a Crisis homeless shelter.

The song became the highest selling debut single on the UK singles charts in the first half of 2011.

He told The Sun July 15, 2011: "I wrote that song last year in a student flat in Guildford. I recorded it for less than £200 and made the video for under £20. In two weeks we'd sold 200,000 copies. I've made a song about a homeless prostitute who has been able to get on A-list radio."

So now we know the story of the Angel and how Ed and Milli Pain really challenge that. No matter how sad this story is, it's real and both songs so in-depth.

Leek (Sunshine) Music Video.

It's like those days where you love being around people but sometimes you don't . Sometimes your mad at the world but sometimes it makes you so happy. Sometimes you hate someone but at the same time it never equals up to the love for some body. We all have those bad days when we just want to put our headphones in with the volume up.

Does this sound familiar well with the new music video by Leek and the War Wick Tragedy. Which was shot for The Fourth coming album titled "One".

So i talked to Luke Humphries (Leek) on the meaning behind the song and what the song means for him.
The song is based around a love / hate relationship that Luke Humphries  (Leek) was involved in trying to stop the arguing and the fighting side of things.

" The lyrics are fairly self explanatory once you know that" wrote Luke.
But according to Luke Humphries " it can mean anything you wish for it to". But to him "that's what it means to him".

The video was made by the bands friend and the song just fit into the video about those dark days and how to find the happiness in those dark days. Because our sun shines here to stay <3

"No exact date yet on the release but we should Expect a March-April release if all runs smoothly!" Said the boys themselves on their Facebook Page.  But I know how to get you excited for this release.

1. They have played with 5 Seconds of Summer and are too sexy to the camera thus the blur of perfection. Their color

co-ordinance is amazing I don't Know if that was planned or not but who doesn't like guys in red.

2.They sound Amazing Covering Songs just like Call Me Maybe from Carly Rae Jepson In a foam pit with a skateboard as a drum. How talented is that!?!

Watch out for Justin Bieber in the video making a little Cameo.
Who agrees?

Take Us To Vegas

What is the result of grabbing five friends from the sunshine coast putting them into a band together, Blending equal measure of hope, despair, aggression and passion into their music. The end result Take Us To Vegas who have music that shines  with sincerity and conviction, and as a result has drawn a loyal fan base.

The band released their first Album ‘The Road Ahead’ in March 2011 and single 'Apparently It's Frowned Upon' in October 2012 with both being very well received. They are keen to release new tracks and get back out into the concert mode. 2013 is big for Take Us To Vegas. I caught them for a quick chat with Bassist Nicholas.

Where are you from?
Take Us To Vegas is from the Sunshine Coast In Queensland, Australia.

What is your favorite song of your own,What's the inspiration behind it?
Definitely one of our new songs, It'll be on the new E.P that we'll be recording hopefully next month. It's called Bloodwolves, and basically it is about when someone,or something, pushes you to the point where you become the most evil or vengeful that you could ever be. Getting to the stage where you'd surpass your own morality because whatever you feel is so intense. When you're just out for the blood because you feel as though nothing else will satiate your rage.

But then in the same breath it's recognizing that living your life in that manner is a death sentence in it's own regard. Living under a perpetual storm cloud will only serve to separate you from the people who care about you, and eventually from your own emotion. I guess in a lot of ways it's a testament to how dissatisfied a lot of our generation feels towards the current climate of western society. For example, the lack of separation between  church and state, or the fact of oppression towards certain minorities still exists in the 21st century. Further than tat, it's also about the betrayal between individuals. And all of this kind of perpetuates the deterioration of a healthy society.

How do you describe your music to people who haven't heard of you?
I just say it's rock 'n' roll and let them judge for themselves.

If a song would play when you walked into the room,What would it be?
Dreamweaver by Gary Wright.

New Year, New You, What are some goals you aspire to reach this year?

Definitely get this E.P out and then tour it all year. We got to make a lot of new friends last year, and we hope to continue that. We just want to get out and play music.

If you had to save the world, How would you do it?
Johnny would use his incredible strength and cockiness.
Ryan would use his kindness.
Lee would document photographic evidence in a form of a selfie.
Alex would try to calm people via the use of certain botanical contraband that I won't Name.
I (Nick) would just get really shitty with everyone and nag..
With Our Combined Powers we would definitely be a total hindrance to the salvation of the planet.

We Suck.

In Three words,How would you describe your live shows?
Fun. Loud. Buttery.

How did you all meet?, What influenced you to start a band together?
We all knew each other from being in different bands in a small local scene in South- East Queensland around six years ago. At some point Liam started poaching the other guys from their current projects to be in his band "Wingspan". Ryan ended up taking over from Liam on vocals because Liam used to get too sick all the time. Then they ended up calling it quits on Wingspan and started 'Take Us To Vegas', I came into the band to play bass around June of 2012 after a band i was singing for called 'Traditions' broke up.

What Genre, Would you classify yourself as?
we don't really. We take influence from a heap of bands from multitude of genres but we don't really have an interest in categorizing or quantifying ourselves or our music.
How do you prepare before the concert?
Generally there will be rehearsals in the days leading up to the shows. A lot of promoting the shows ourselves. Then on show day we pack the van, drive, load into the venue, sound check, mingle with other bands and audience, when the band before us goes on we'll stare to prepare our gear and warm up and then hit the stage.

Do you think that "Pop Punk Is Still Alive"?
I don't really Understand what that means, Or what " defend Pop Punk' is all about. And I don't really care.

I think most of the genre now is insincere 'faux' Pop Punk. Metalcore had it's day and now this is the hype thing.

But in saying that I do think it's cool that bands like our boys in Heroes for Hire who have been working super hard for years are getting recognition and not playing second fiddle to international bands all the time. That definitely makes me happy.

What are the names and nicknames of everyone in the band?

We just call each other derogatory names that I can't repeat here for fear of the wrath of our management.

Thank You To The Take Us To Vegas Boys for Participating in the interview, Can't wait to Party in Sydney with you boys soon!.

Please Enjoy: Take Us To Vegas - Apparently It's Frowned Upon

As a group, Rawr Vanity continue to pave their musical journey one success

after another. So Without Further Ado, Here's The Interview with Rawr Vanity.

New Year, New You, What is some goals you aspire to reach this year?

It would be awesome for our single off the new album to hit some charts . Release the album and tour to both Sydney and Melbourne again. Maybe even hit Perth this year!

With The New Album, How has the music developed from when you first started?

We write our songs now with a formula in our minds.

When we first wrote songs we went a bit crazy and put all this stuff in,
But it wasn't always best for the song. I think we've Learnt how good songs are built from the ground up.

What do you like to do,when your not making music?

Matt: gym and Xbox

Wace: spend time with friends/family

Carly: I like going to the beach and road trips

Jess: BBQ's with friends and Xbox

How Was the Making of the Music Video Electric?

Surprisingly not stressful to film but took 14 hours to edit

we kinda decided to do it on a wim.

We had no cash so just decided to have a go ourselves!

In three words, How would you describe your live shows?

Electric. Fun. Free.

How did all you meet and what influenced you to start a band together?

Carly Matt and Jess met in primary school and went to high school together as well.
Jess met wacey when she went to JMC academy in 2009. Carly and Jess had just come out of another band and still really wanted to make music.
Matt had always played music and such and wacey really wanted to start hitting the music scene in Brisbane we just kinda started jamming from there.

Where's your favorite place to go for inspiration? and what inspires you the most?

Places to go for inspiration I guess we just spend a lot of time together in any location.

We usually go through road trips together and usually write about things and situations we

see rather than what we're involved in.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?
So many people! Matt Wright from the Getaway Plan,
 Lady Gaga,
 Katy Perry,
The script (whoever song writes for them)
 many many more!

What Genre, Would you Classify Yourself as?

Well we say glitter/pop/dance/rock haha we're like a few genres in a blender

What are the names and nicknames of everyone in the band?

Wace Face
Matty
Jesh
Carlos  haha

 sometimes these names stick

Hopefully, You come to Sydney, Would love to see you play!,

Clear Skies

Two Guys that had a dream took their love and turned into one of the best things that you could hear in music right now. Brooks and Jake have turned that dream into a duo Clear Skies, Brand New Pop-Rock band from Springfield. Launching themselves into the hearts of fans. their  first single Run To You such a success with the fans shown by such positive feedback, Their New Single 'I Gotta Know' has set the bar up one to amazing.

Left: Brooks Farris

Right: Jake Crusinberry

And together their musical expertise put together makes up the perfection that is Clear Skies. It is such a great honor to talk to the boys on 2013 for them.

How did you come up with the band name and what is the history behind the name?
Jake came up with the name in his sleep one day, we were searching for a band name that fit us uniquely and we couldn't come up with anything until it randomly popped into his head! The name just refers to a new beginning, a fresh start as musicians on our own in a new place, clear skies ahead!

Is there any bands or artists you look up too as a musical influence?

Brooks really values Blink 182 as his major influence in his drumming style.
Jake doesn't claim any one individual influence but has a love for all kinds of music from classical, to hip hop and anything in between.

The Song 'I Gotta Know' is amazing, What was the inspiration behind it?

The song was written about a girl that Jake was seeing at the time. She was sending him lots of mixed signals and he just wanted to know if she liked him back.

A preview of the song can be seen here:

If you guys were to describe yourself in simple word choice.. What would you say?
Precision. Everything we do is calculated down to the last detail as a band. We are dedicated to this group and to our fans and give 110% in everything we do musically. We owe it to ourselves and the people who listen to us to give them the very best product with every song and every item of merchandise. To do any less would be criminal!

What made you want to be in a band?

Brooks and Jake have both played music for a very long time. Both have been in bands since they were about 12 years old and really couldn't picture themselves doing anything else.

What are the Names and Nicknames of the people in the band?

The members of clear skies are Jake, lead songwriter, and Brooks, percussion.
We don't have any nicknames persay; We have way too many inside jokes to keep track of though. We will bust out laughing about absolutely nothing most of the time and people will just sort of stare at us!

New Year, New You,What are some goals for 2013?

We have many goals for 2013. But the principle goal is to continue to put out the best possible music, the best possible merch, play every show to the highest of our abilities, and give everyone the time of day no matter who they are or what they have to say.

Where are you boys from?

Brooks was born in Seattle, Washington but is from Silver Lake, Kansas.
Jake was born in Honolulu, Hawaii but is from Manhattan, Kansas.

When I say Australia, What are some things that come to mind?

Kangaroos!
Vegemite,
 rugby,
 Russel Crowe!
beautiful girls obviously
and our dear, dear friends A Sleepless Melody,
a pop rock band like us from Melbourne!
Matthew and Andrew are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and if you get the chance to see them play, go! and tell em Clear Skies says Oi!

And Lastly, What Genre Would you classify yourself as?

An easy classification would be to label us as Pop Rock. That's what we define ourselves as and we believe our fans do too.

I see Big things for these boys and know there are big things coming their way!

When Giants Sleep

In our Second Giant Related Band, First 'Wake The Giants', Now we are waiting till 'When Giants Sleep' (Excuse the terrible Puns).
When Giants Sleep are a Post Hardcore Band hailing from Canberra were formed in February 2011 and released their debut E.P."My Fight, Your Monsters" early 2012.

When Giants Sleep have already made a big name for themselves by playing many shows locally and interstate, sharing the stage with many renowned bands such as the likes of Confession, Northlane, Hands Like Houses, In Hearts Wake, Buried In Verona, The Plot In You (USA), Silent Screams (UK), Sienna Skies, PledgeThis!, Save The Clocktower, Dream On Dreamer, In Fear and Faith (USA), Saviour and many other talented local acts. You Know they are good, playing with only the Best of the Best!

But When They aren't sleeping and being totally awesome, they took the time out to answer a few questions answered by the totally awesome Guitarist  Robert Suthern.

Where are you from?Canberra, Australia

How did you get the name "When Giants Sleep?

I came up with it randomly after thinking of heaps of different names, and everyone seemed

to agree on it, not a very exciting story really!  (laughs)

How do you describe your music to people, who haven’t heard of you?

Amity crossed Getaway Plan, that's what i usually say anyway,

or the softest band at a hardcore show or the heaviest band at a softer show. We're smack bang in the middle.

If a song would play, when you walked into a room what would it be?
The XX - Intro

New Year, New You, What is some goals you aspire to reach this year?
We will have a professional film clip done by Ben Clements (House Vs Hurricane, Amity Affliction) coming out within the next few months as well as writing a whole lot more this year, we have about 6 new songs in the writing process at the moment!

For all those who don't know, Ben is the genius that shot & edited blood knuckles

and does a lot of professional photography.  (seen Here)
http://benclementphoto.tumblr.com/

If you had to save the world how would you guys do it?

(laughs)  By using our instruments as weapons!

My Fight, Your Monsters was released 2012, In Three Words Describe The EP for the Fans?

Unique, Young, Interesting

What is your favourite song of your own and the inspiration behind it?

Reluctant Weather, Helpful Hands - In general it is about being completely defeated. The writing style towards that song is open ended and people can interpret  that as there own experience, people can make their own stories out of the lyrics. Also the guitar writing style is something we never had really done before, and it adds a whole new element to our set (video to be released in march) (and we can't wait to see it either)

For someone who never went to one of your shows, What would they expect?

An Energetic live performance with heart and soul put into every song.

If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be?

Anyone who's willing to share some piece of mind with us and a musical bromance, and someone that we can get along with and work well together.

You have played support to so many talented artists, how was this experience for you?

Absolutely amazing, we can not be more thankful for all the bands we have played for and all the people we have met throughout our whole journey of playing. It's crazy, some of the bands we grew up listening to in college we are now sharing the stage with!

Thank You Rob,And The WGS Team

If You want to keep updated on their new video, new music and totally awesomeness
